about the fraternity
Alpha Phi Omega is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The purpose
of this co-ed fraternity is to assemble college students in a national
service fraternity in the fellowship of principles derived from the
Scout Oath and Law of the Boy Scouts of America; to develop leadership,
to promote friendship and to provide service to humanity; and to further
freedom that is our national, educational and intellectual heritage.
Alpha Phi Omega is the single most representative undergraduate intercollegiate
organization in the United States of America. We take pride in this
and want to be even larger. We determine to be larger only because,
if what we are and what we represent are important and useful to students,
then we should share what we have in order to further our common goals
more effectively. We want to share with colleges and universities all
across this great land the benefits that Alpha Phi Omega gives to students,
their campuses and their communities.

about the Beta Iota chapter
Originally chartered in 1938, Beta Iota was re-chartered in 1992. One
of the oldest organizations dedicated to community service at the university,
the members of BI have pledged countless hours over the years to keep
our program strong.
Our cardinal principles are Leadership, Friendship, and Service. While
our emphasis has always been on providing the school and city with reliable
access to our volunteer services, we also commit ourselves to a 6-9
week pledging process each semester for new members that invariably
fosters new friendships that last, which is best exemplified by the
continuing presence of alumni at joint service projects. Our members
also become strong leaders with their participation, whether it's as
service coordinators, seats on our Executive Committee, or just simply
as examples everyone in Beta Iota develops more confidence and
learns to work in a team.
We hope that this web site will give you a better idea about what we're
all about, and why we have such pride in this organization.
